1990 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL

Mint condition, completely immaculate.   5.6L V8 engine with 4-speed automatic, cruise control, air conditioning, power seats, headrests, mirrors, sunroof, windows, et cetera.  ABS, 4-wheel disk brakes.  Central locking with two remotes.   Located in Edenvale (Gauteng Province), South Africa.  Price is R140,000.  I am sorry it is not negotiable.  Telephone 0743517204.

Car has no door dings, dents, or scratches..  There is no rust anywhere; even the door drains and sill plates are still like new.  Has full service history (all stamps in maintenance book since new).   Tires are brand new "V" Rated.  Car has no rattles or vibrations at all on the freeway at any speed.   An absolute pleasure to drive with effortless power.  Amazing braking performance.  There are absolutely no leaks and engine consumes no oil; not necessary to add any oil between changes.

Car has no sun damage or fading anywhere.  Leather and wood interior are both still excellent.  Dashboard is completely free of cracks.

Chrome is all still like new.

In 2013, the car had a lot of new things other than tires.  A new windscreen was installed, new giant-sized battery (R2500), starter, and the transmission was rebuilt in 2013.  Every seal in the transmission was replaced, both internal and external, all new clutches, clutch plates, et cetera.  Shifts are now almost undetectable.  Truly drives like it is still brand new.

All 5 wheels (one is a full sized spare in the boot) still shine as new, never refinished.

All new V-Rated Goodyear Efficient Grip Tires, imported from England,  fitted less than 2000 km ago (May 10th, 2013).   This is a brand new tire model with the latest technology.  Better specifications than Michelin MXVs.  Original factory size:  205/65R15.  Goodyear is the only manufacturer now of a V-rated tire in this size.

Interior leather is still like new, soft, no marks whatsoever.  No wear, even on the driver's seat.  All original, no restoration efforts.  Has been treated with high quality leather conditioners since the car was new.  The car has never been smoked in and still smells like a new Mercedes interior.   Original rubber floor mats still sparkle.

All options, buttons, controls, etc work exactly as they should.

Air conditioning blows very cold air, heat works very well also.  Original Becker stereo with 6 speakers sounds wonderful.  Original power antenna was rebuilt (with new Mercedes parts) just last year.   Works perfectly.

The 560SEL had an optional fire extinguisher, factory fitted, and mounted to the front of the passenger seat.  It moves when the seat moves.  Also notice the 560 has a switch for two different horn sounds.  The car has 4 horns fitted, two for one sound and two for the other.

The 560SEL is set apart from other S class models due to the fact the car is 5 inches longer than the normal S class.  This extra length is in the rear doors and rear footwells.

The SEL adds exactly 5 inches more leg room for rear passengers, allowing for the extra luxuries of a power reclining rear seat and carpeted foot-rests.

As you can see from the perforated leather and different seats, this car was imported from Germany.  It was not manufactured in South Africa.  The build quality is noticeably better.  This sets this car apart from other 560s, and its 126 body S-Class cousins in 1990: the 300SE, 420SE, and 500SE, all of which were produced here.

Power recline button for the back seat.

This car was truly utilized solely for long trips, on which it has logged 213,000 KM.  Last service at the Mercedes agents at 210,676 KM.  Other than the service, they also replaced the engine mounts and a couple of little things they found.  Paperwork is available including the rebuilding of the transmission.  Car comes with maintenance history, maintenance book, owner's manual, three keys, two remotes, and original tool kit still in the boot.

It gets a lot more attention everywhere I drive it than a brand new 1.4 Million Rand S-class would receive.  The original price for this car 24 years ago in 1990 was $75,589 US Dollars, not including taxes, the most expensive S-Class available.  It is hardly different now than it was then.  It is eligible for collector car insurance, which costs me R1300 per year for full coverage.  Price is R140,000 not negotiable.  That is such a bargain I cannot express it in words.  Telephone 0743517204.  Thank you.
